This week we talk to Shane Ryan, wing forward on our Senior Team. Thanks Shane for taking part!
Team Position: Wing Forward
Why do you love playing hurling?
I’ve always loved hurling from a young age mainly due to the success of our underage teams in Clarinbridge. Recently, I’ve come to appreciate the ability hurling has in creating lifelong friendships and memories with my club and college buddies.
Who is your favourite hurler and why?
My first cousin Eanna Ryan. Through the years I’ve heard so much about my Father, Uncles and Aunts playing but I never got to see them play. Eanna was the first person I knew playing in Croke Park and his goal against Tipp in 2010 was just class!
Best advice you ever got from a coach ?
“It’s not the be-all and end-all Shane” - Michael Gallagher when he dropped me from the County u14s, thought I’d never hurl again!!
Away from hurling what’s your favourite way to relax?
I love taking easy money from Niall and Killy in a round of golf. Horrible golfers.
Three items you always have in your fridge?
Eggs, Milk, Yoghurt
Favourite place?
The Old Stand after a Fitzgibbon game. Scenes!
