Our U11 boys, coaches, and supporters headed south today to the annual Frank Maher tournament in Clonmel and won the Jimmy Collins Shield! Our first game was against Drom-Inch, Co. Tipperary where the boys got off to a great start and won it comfortably 4-1 to 0-2.
We then played Lismore from Waterford in a very tough battle where Lismore won 4-2 to 2-3. It was a tighter affair than the 5 point gap but the boys drove on where they then took on Carrick Swan from Tipperary and defeated the Swans 1-3 to no score.
That got us safely through to the semi-final where we met Erin's Own from Cork. The boys put up a super display and won it well and secured a place in the Jimmy Collins Shield final versus Newport, Co Tipperary.
The final was a very close game and the boys played their hearts out against a strong Newport side. The Bridge Boys kept going and went on to defeat Newport in the final 3-2 to 2-3.
What a fantastic achievement for these young boys! They did their club and community proud. Hopefully the first of many. Big thanks to @St Mary’s GAA Club, Clonmel for hosting what was a fantastic day. Well done to all involved!
